HELLO. WELCOME TO THE WAR.
By the end of the 1930s, the world had found itself in yet another war. But this war would be very different from the first. Modern artillery, aircraft, and the atomic bomb would make the Second World War unlike any other.
On September 10th, 1939, Canada entered the war.
For the next six years, Canadian soldiers would fight battles in Britain all the way to Burma. They would experience the victory of the beaches of Normandy. They would face defeat and heartache on the pebbles of Dieppe.
For 1 million Canadian soldiers, the war had called for their bravery and service. For 45 000, the war had claimed their lives. But without our involvement, the outcome of World War II would have had an entirely different outcome. We would not have known the world as it is today.

first encounters
There were many imperative battles throughout World War II, but the first of these battles were arguably the most important.
The Battle Of The Atlantic was the longest battle in all of World War Two, it was fought by the German, Canadian and British naval forces on the epic battleground of the Atlantic Ocean. This battle launched Canada's navy from a pitiful six ships to a force to be reckoned with.
The Battle Of Britain was an offensive launched by the Germans on Britain. The battle was made up mostly by arial combat and bomb runs. This battle was so pivotal because if Britain fell, North America would be open to the Germans blitzkrieg and the Allies effort would fail.
